September is the best month for fresh, local fruit. The tree limbs are bending with bounty. Seriously…the tree limbs on the peach trees will touch the ground because of the weight of the fruit.
New this week from Canyon Orchards:
White peaches
We will also have:
Peaches: Alberta and Hale (please let me know if you want a full box so I can include it in my quantities)
Plums: the dark Elephant Heart variety
Nectarines: my dad says they’re as big as soft balls
Tomatoes: salsa, salsa, salsa
Melons: watermelon, canary and cantaloupe
Apples: Gala and baking apples
Corn Ira Powers will have his Kalamata Olive Sourdough bread. Be sure to get to his tent early to grab a loaf. The Downtown Eagle Market starts at 8:30 am. We have no morning bell, if a vendor is at the market we’ll sell our goods regardless of time. I’m usually there by 7 just as the sun is rising. Join me for a sun salutation with a fresh peach. Cheers and see you Saturday.
